Noise Pollution on City Council Agenda Today
The topic of noise pollution affecting some St. John’s neighbourhoods is on the council agenda today.
The issue specifically relates to after-market parts and modifications to exhaust systems that result in increased noise.
A resolution is set to be presented calling on the city to continue lobbying the province for enforcement of regulations prohibiting such systems. Repercussions would include fines and ticketing.
Signal Hill Road area residents have been complaining of motorcycles, cars, and trucks roaring up the hill to Cabot Tower at all hours of the day and night.
The resolution specifically mentions Pipe Down NL, a Facebook group made up of concerned citizens from all areas of the city, which was formed to lobby the province for better enforcement.
The resolution will be brought forward in council chambers this afternoon.
