From January 2023, our team, with the support of the Czech non-governmental organization, Arnika, and the OECD TRANSITION program of the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs, started working on creating the first civic air quality monitoring network in Georgia. In the first stage, we will start monitoring primary pollutants, including PM2.5 – particulate matter, one of the most harmful substances to human health and the respiratory system. The goal of the project is to promote access to air quality information and to register the polluted municipalities and settlements of Georgia based on the information obtained through the monitoring network, which will allow us to determine the priorities of work in different regions. As of now, we have started monitoring in the following cities of Georgia: Tbilisi, Rustavi, Kaspi, and Chiatura.
