Training on Georgia’s Environmental Legislation
On July 11-20, our team underwent training on Georgia’s environmental legislation with lawyer Vakhtang Baramashvili. During the training sessions, we discussed the general principles that are the basis of the environmental normative acts in force in Georgia, the law “On Ambient Air Protection” and the levers of its application in practice, the environmental articles of the Code of Administrative Offenses, Criminal Law and Civil Law of Georgia and their application methods, the General Administrative Code of Georgia and The formal issues related to requesting public information from administrative bodies.
The mentioned training is a part of our project “AirGe: civil monitoring of air pollution in Georgia,” which is carried out with the support of the Czech non-governmental organization “Arnika” and the “TRANSITION” program of the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The knowledge gained through the training will be useful in solving the legal problems in Tbilisi and other cities of Georgia based on community engagement, as well as protecting our constitutional right to clean air and a safe environment.
